Our hometown of Newport, Rhode Island is a runner’s paradise for locals and visitors alike. We polled our friends at local running club Newport Run and Chug for their favorite tips, tricks, and spots for runners in Newport!

Run

“I love heading through the marsh on Hazard Rd from Ruggles/Wickham side just around sunset. I try and never miss a Thursday night with the best run club in RI, Newport Run and Chug, every Thursday from the Fastnet!” – Eddie V.

“Cliff walk, either early in the morning or during a full moon. Also, I hit November Project, ever Wednesday, at 6:20 AM.” – Maruti K.

“Through The Point neighborhood and out to Goat Island at sunset.” — Cori O.

“The 10-mile loop from Belleview to Bailey’s Beach to Ocean Drive to Wellington and back up to Belleview.” — Liz R.

“I really enjoy running at Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge.” — Michael B.

“Park car at surfers end at dawn for free, and run the back half of the marathon route.” — Adrian M.

“Adam Stadel [at Run Newport] has a sweet history running tour.” — Erin B.

 

Refuel

“I stop at Root for an oatmeal bowl and a Born Ready, which is their beet juice.” — Nicole C.

“Boru Noodle Bar.” — Chris B.

“I really enjoy Hummingbird on Broadway and their vegetable soup or jerk soup after a long run. And, for post-run beers, if you’re not saying the Fastnet, you’re doing it wrong. “ — Eddie V.

“IM Sushi, mostly for sashimi, or O’Briens because they have Loose Cannon on tap.” Cooper C.

“Bodysurfing and boogie boarding at the beach. Nice way to chill and shake out the legs.” — Chris B.

“I enjoy NPT Healthworks for recovery, yoga, Ma’s Donuts, Atlantic Grille for breakfast, just stopping in and saying ‘hi’ to the Adam and the staff at Run Newport, and finishing a summer run at Gooseberry Beach for a quick dip and possibly even a nap under an umbrella.” — Eddie V.
