Gray Matter Marketing is based in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, near a number of excellent colleges and universities. Because of this, we are able to find excellent interns to join our team each semester. We’re always thrilled to have the opportunity to engage with and work alongside up and coming professionals and teach them some of what we know. Molly, one of our Fall 2018 interns, shares her thoughts and experiences as we approach the end of the semester:

I am currently a senior English Communications major at Salve Regina University. I grew up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and Newport, Rhode Island is the only other place I have ever lived. The ocean is my favorite place to be and is a completely different scene than the mountains I grew up near. I fell in love with Salve Regina the minute I stepped on campus and immediately knew Newport would be my next home.

I run cross country and track & field at Salve. Running has been a favorite activity of mine since high school. I love running because it is a lifelong sport and I hope to continue it even after my last track season ends this spring. If I am not running down by the ocean, in a spin class, or hiking in my hometown, you can find me with my nose in a New York Times Best Seller or binge watching a Netflix series (my favorite is Stranger Things).

The best part about working at Gray Matter Marketing is seeing the other side of a road race or marathon. I have run many races over my running career and until now, I never realized the hard work and dedication that is required for a road race to go smoothly and be successful. I learned how every single detail matters along with every member of the Gray Matter Marketing team’s creativity. I also have been exposed to a bunch of new road races that are now on my bucket list to try. I have always wanted to run a marathon one day and the Amica Newport Marathon seems like a good first one.

This internship has introduced me to so many hardworking and exciting people. I love being able to work directly with every person in the office including the other interns.

I graduate this may and I have changed my mind about my career path many times. As of today, I am very interested in event planning and event management, I have Gray Matter marketing to thank for that!

Thanks for joining us this semester and for all of your hard work, Molly!
