With sunshine on their shoulders and amazing waterfront views all around, more than 550 cyclists turned out for a beautiful 4 Bridges Ride.  The ride, held on May 2, allowed participants to  cross Rhode Island’s famed network of bridges that connect Conanicut Island and Aquidneck Island to the mainland: the Verrazzano, Pell, Sakonnet and Mt. Hope Bridges.

The ride is now in its third year and is a charitable event with 100% of the net proceeds being donated to a local non-profit. This year, Save The Bay was named the event’s charitable beneficiary in recognition of their efforts to preserve the Ocean State’s vital waterways. The event is sponsored by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority, and is produced by Gray Matter Marketing.

The 26-mile course attracted cyclists from around New England and beyond, as riders of all ages traversed this scenic roadway. Lured by the amazing views and unique opportunity to cycle across these stoic structures, the riders also enjoyed sunny springtime weather.

The ride concluded with a post-card perfect finish at the base of the Mt. Hope Bridge, creating a lasting memory from a flawless event. We are already looking forward to next year’s 4 Bridges Ride!
