Hi, my name is Lucy Cummings, and I have been interning with Gray Matter Marketing for the past eleven weeks during the 2019 Summer semester. Here’s an opportunity to get to know a little more about me!

I am from Westport, Massachusetts and am the youngest sibling of three. Both my dad and my brother are in the craft beer business, so Gray Matter felt like a natural fit for me. I also work as a manager for the Tennis Pro Shop of a nearby country club.  When I am not working you can find me at the beach or on the couch enjoying an episode or two of my favorite show.

I am heading into my senior year at the University of Colorado Boulder (Sko Buffs!).  I am in the Leeds School of Business as a Marketing major with a Certificate in Operations and Information Management.  I am definitely still exploring all possible options, but my main interests so far are in advertising and event planning.  I like working with numbers and I enjoy putting my organization skills to good use.

My biggest passion is attending concerts and music festivals.  Not only do I enjoy the music and seeing artists live, but I love how the shared experience brings people together.  I already have tickets to attend 9 different shows this Fall and am definitely hoping for more.  My all-time favorite concert venue is Red Rocks in Colorado.  I definitely think it should be a bucket list place for anyone!

Since I grew up a minute from the beach, I love to be in the ocean. I’d take the saltwater over a pool any day. It’s always been a summer staple to go hopping from spot to spot jumping off of different docks, wharves, and rocks. Now that I go to school out in Colorado, I also have the mountains right at my fingertips. I love to ski, so I try to take advantage as much as I can!

Another interest of mine is traveling and experiencing different cultures. In high school, I studied abroad in New Zealand with a group and spent 6 weeks road-tripping from the top of the North Island to the absolute bottom of the South Island in a little yellow van. We made many stops along to way to see some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. We also spent many of our nights staying on the sacred land of the Maori, the indigenous people. We experienced their culture first hand by participating in traditional ceremonies and hearing stories straight from the source.

My most recent trip was a few years ago when my sister and I spent a month traveling through 6 countries of Southeast Asia. We saw many ancient temples and ruins, played with elephants and tigers, ate the best sushi of our lives, and hiked a part of the Great Wall.  I can’t wait to see where life takes me next!
